유망한 젊은 작가의 발굴과 육성에 힘써온 갤러리 LVS에서는 4월 9일부터 30일까지 임태규 개인전을 개최한다.
26회 석남미술상 수상작가인 임태규는 매 년 2회의 개인전을 하는 등 꾸준한 작업을 해오고 있다. 이번 LVS에서 열리는 개인전에서는 총 24점의 신작이 전시된다. 작가는 한국화의 영역에서는 잘 선택되지 않았던 기피 소재들과 그 만의 새로운 방법론을 발견, 먹과 채색의 영역을 확장시켰다는 평가를 받는다.
임태규는 ‘주변인’이라는 일관된 주제를 꾸준히 다루면서 조금씩 달라지며 성장하는 모습을 보여준다. 특히 이번 전시 작품에 다수 포함되는
특히 이번 전시의 신작들에서는 만화적 상상력이 한층 더 어우러진다. 비행선과 우주선, 로켓을 부여잡고 날아다니는 인물 군상들은 강아지와 용과 같은 친구들을 만난다. 다채로운 색들로 채색된 현실과 상상이 함께 하는 세계를 통해 삶의 다양성과 즐거움을 보여줌으로써, 작가는 긍정적인 이상향의 세계를 오늘날의 주변인들, 바로 우리들에게 소개하는 듯 하다.
Gallery LVS presents a young Korean artist Yim Tae Kyu.
In his solo show from 9th to 30th April, Yim Tae Kyu exhibits total 24 new works. The artist has chosen new methods and subjects which have not been used in the category of Korean painting. In doing so, he is said to widen the territory of Korean painting.
While dealing with the subject, ‘Marginal man’, he has matured himself. In the series Fly Away home, he represents people of today who are falling or flying up. The group of people appeared in his paintings always float in the air whether they are taking a rest, heading somewhere or fighting furiously. In this chaotic world, they try to make sense where they are, what they are. But they can not stop what is happening to them. Yim represents them vividly with his characteristic lines.
The imagination of comic makes his works even livelier. Dogs and dragons become friends with characters who fly in or with spaceships, rockets and etc. In the vivid and colorful world where reality meets imagination, the life is various and joyful. The artist shows the positive, ideal world to us, marginal men.
